Beginning today, June 19, 2023, educators across McPherson Public Schools are taking part in the Curriculum Academy. Each day, multiple different groups are meeting to focus on different areas of the ongoing curriculum work. This work is happening in alignment with the district's strategic plan, Vision 2025.
During day 1, our team of reading specialists worked to update the English Language Arts guide and set dates for the FastBridge screener for the 2023-24 school year. This screener exam is used district-wide to help identify students that need additional support. These students are then broken out into tiers for additional instruction and support as needed. This process is a major time commitment across the district and it ensures that students are getting the support they need to continue making progress.
They also met with staff from the Kansas Technical Assistance System Network (TASN) about this data and the tiered support process.
