Dear Bullpups,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!!! The start of a new school year is always filled with anticipation and enthusiasm. As we embark on this journey together, let's support our students in every way possible. Here are a few tips to help make this year successful:
- Stay Involved: Keep open lines of communication with teachers and stay updated on your student’s progress and school activities.
- Encourage Balance: Help your student find a healthy balance between academics, extracurricular activities, and personal time.
- Support Study Habits: Create a conducive environment for studying at home and encourage effective time management.
- Ensure good attendance: Good attendance positively impacts student performance.
- Promote Well-being: Ensure your student gets enough rest, eats well, and manages stress effectively.
- Be a Role Model: Show enthusiasm for learning and a positive attitude toward education.
Throughout the year, we will focus on promoting not only academic excellence but also regular attendance. Encouraging regular attendance is key to ensuring that students make the most of their educational experience and are well-prepared for future success.
Attendance at school is crucial for several reasons:
- Academic Success: Regular attendance ensures that students receive consistent instruction and are less likely to fall behind. Missing classes can lead to gaps in knowledge, making it difficult to keep up with the curriculum.
- Skill Development: School is not just about academics; it's also where students develop essential life skills such as time management, problem-solving, and teamwork. Regular attendance helps in honing these skills.

- Access to Resources: Schools offer various resources such as counseling, extracurricular activities, and academic support services. Regular attendance ensures that students have access to these resources, which can aid their overall development.
- Future Opportunities: Consistent attendance is often a factor in college admissions and job opportunities. Good attendance records reflect positively on a student's reliability and commitment.
Please refer to the MHS attendance policy from our handbook. There have been some changes to our attendance policy. If for any reason you need support with attendance, we have a caring support staff with our student advocates, administration, and our attendance secretaries.
