we live in a world of Relentless change huge migrations of people into new megacities filling soaring skyscrapers and fast slums ravenous appetite for fuel and food unpredictable climate change and all of this in the world where the population is still growing should we be worried should we be scared how to make sense of it all I have to say that it's probably one of the coolest but I might be just a little bit biased however one of the big things we try to do in human geography is to answer why the world is the way it is all of the strange things you don't understand weird things all of that starts coming together when you start looking at Human Geography now a lot of people think about geography and a very specific way I'm going to let somebody geography Ken me something very narrowing of Juneau the capital of Pennsylvania geography is huge thing what's a handicap if you don't understand the world you live why people build houses the way they why cultures develop the way they do how are economic system is time together and how we get things from one place to the other helping people to make the decisions that they need to make that involve understanding and reasoning about their world it really explains that we're all interconnected in this world human systems interact with physical systems physical systems interact with humans were all interconnected between so many different things that you didn't even realize were connected we look at several different units that cover the nature geography population culture which also includes language religion and race and ethnicity societies develop we look at agriculture we look at it and we look at politics it is a very challenging class that will Peak your interest in so many different areas the stuff we cover rarely covered in other classes taught at Mcpherson High School but through this challenging classes you will learn so much just a heads up there is a fair amount of reading and you should plan on having 20 30 minutes of homework about 3 to 4 times a week and there will be an AP test at the end of the year so if you pass it you have the chance to get college credit for it just a few things I'll let you know and I really hope to see you all my classes next year
